The Story:
Two thousand copies of the 1826 The Atlantic Souvenir, considered the first American literary annual, were published in December 1825. This anthology of short fiction and verse by popular authors was an instant success. Part of its appeal was the attractive binding of green paper over boards, edges gilt, with a decorative slipcase. The outstanding condition is typical of volumes from the Salisbury library.
