The Story:
AAS has a remarkable collection of British Caribbean imprints. Given the vagaries of time and climate, these Caribbean books, pamphlets, almanacs, and newspapers are now of exceptional rarity. Among them is Interesting Tracts, a 300-page quarto printed in Jamaica, acquired as part of Frederick Lewis Gay’s 1918 bequest. It publishes important documents originally recorded in manuscript concerning the seventeenth-century British conquest and rule of Jamaica.
