Ginger Strand is a fiction and non-fiction writer. Her essays have appeared in Harper's, The Believer, Raritan, The New England Review, American Literary History, Theatre Journal, The Village Voice, Poets & Writers and Swink, as well as books from Gale, Greenwood, and the University of Michigan Press. Her fiction has been published in a wide range of journals, and her novel Flight was published by Simon and Schuster in May, 2005. She has received residency fellowships from the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, the Virginia Center for theCreative Arts, and the Sewanee Writers Conference, as well as grants from the Mellon foundation and the NEH. At AAS, she viewed handbills, guidebooks, travelogues, treaties, and photographs for her first full-length work of nonfiction, Inventing Niagara (Simon and Schuster, 2008).
